Monate Game Lodge offers a wide variety of activities for you to enjoy. We promise a peaceful time in nature filled with interesting facts from our Rangers. From active to relaxing, there’s something to do for all tastes, from the active to those who just wind to unwind.

Our almost 3 000 hectare private reserve is located in a malaria-free area. It is extremely diverse with wide open plains, typical bushveld areas and fascinating rocky outcrops, caves and koppies. Home to buffalo, giraffe, hippopotamus, zebra, a large variety of antelope, and close to 50% of the bird species found in South Africa.
Our professional and enthusiastic rangers keep guests intrigued during early morning and late afternoon game drives, exploring the various habitats and their many inhabitants.

TAKE A DIP IN ONE OF OUR SPARKLING BLUE SWIMMING POOLS ON A SUNNY DAY AND LOUNGE THE TIME AWAY ON THE RECLINERS WITH A COLD DRINK IN HAND.
Soak off your stress in the Jacuzzi leaving you relaxed and refreshed. Try your hand at our putt-putt, watch the sports in the bar on the big screen, or quietly disappear with a nice read in the serenity of the lounge.
For the corporate clients visiting our lodge, the activities are great for team-building efforts after a full day of planning and communicating business. Additional team-building activities can also be arranged upon booking.
A variety of board games are available from Reception should you need something less physical to keep you entertained.
GUIDED GAME DRIVES
TWO OPPORTUNITIES ARE OFFERED DAILY FOR GUIDED GAME DRIVES WITH OUR EXPERIENCED RANGERS, ONE EARLY MORNINGS AND ONE IN THE AFTERNOONS.
Start your day bright and early with a morning game drive, while the coolness of the night still lingers. Enjoy a warm cup of coffee from one of our unique vantage points and soak in the freshness of the new day. Keen birdwatchers especially enjoy the bushveld mornings. While we track down the vast range of wildlife found on Monate Game Reserve, you’re sure to spot some of the diverse populations of birds that occur on our reserve.
Every evening closes down with a relaxing sundowner somewhere on our beautiful reserve. The evenings are best known for game viewing as most of the animals start making their way to a water source to quench their thirst after a warm African day. The animal activity during this time of day, increases your chances of spotting animals interacting with each other.

Join us for an unforgettable night drive experience where interpretations about the stars and constellations of the Southern Hemisphere are given. You will be able to locate common constellations such as Orion, Scorpio and the Southern Cross as well as bright stars and planets through the lens of binoculars. NIGHT DRIVES MUST BE PRE-BOOKED

GAME WALKS
FOR THE MORE ACTIVE AND BRAVE GUESTS, WE OFFER THE OPPORTUNITY TO SWAP YOUR GAME DRIVE FOR A GAME WALK WITH ONE OF OUR RANGERS.
One of our experienced field guides will take you into the bush with the vehicles, and then explore the area on foot, pointing out fauna, insects and other interesting finds you often miss from the back of the vehicle. You might even cross paths with some of the bigger game such as antelope, giraffes or zebra, but your guide will always ensure your safety as well as that of the animal.

CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING
FOR THE ADVENTUROUS AND COMPETITIVE, WHY NOT TRY YOUR HAND AT SHOOTING A 12 GAUGE SHOT GUN?
Clay pigeon shooting is the perfect way to test your aim while having to compete with time, as the clay only stays airborne for about 3 seconds. Our shooters are given clear instructions and guidance and no previous experience is required
ANCIENT ROCK ART
OUR RESERVE HOSTS SOME OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR
ARCHAEOLOGICAL FINDS IN THE LIMPOPO PROVINCE.
Our archaeological heritage ranges from ancestral Stone Age sites, Bushmen paintings and a vast variety of Central African (Presumably Bantu speaking tribes) rain control sites. The historical time line ranges from around 300 000 years ago up until today.
If requested, our rangers will guide you through the historical significance of these phenomenal sites. The archaeological heritage on our reserve is currently undergoing intense research and study.
